<abstract>
This metadata document describes the processing of
filtered LiDAR data from the existing North Carolina
Floodplain Mapping LiDAR Bare Earth date.
</abstract>
<purpose>
The main objective of this project was to provide a
filtered county wide data set that can more easily be
ingested and displayed on available computers.
</purpose>
<supplinf>
The bounding coordinates provided within the Spatial
Domain section represent a rectangle covering the total
area in which the project is located. The actual project
area follows the boundary of Cabarrus County, NC.
The LiDAR was flown at an altitude of 10,000 feet above
mean terrain (AMT). Swath width of terrain covered in a
single flightline was approximated 3,173 meters. Field of
View for the Leica GeoSystems Aeroscan system used
was 55 degrees.

Source Data - LiDAR
Elevation Model - Existing Bare Earth North Carolina
Floodplain Mapping LiDAR Data set
A step-by-step breakdown of the production process
follows -
1. The existing bare earth digital surface model was
imported into the TerraScan software package used to
filter the LiDAR data.
2. The LiDAR data was classified using the model
keypoints tool in TerraScan.
2.a. Parameters were selected based on four tiles
representative of the entire job.
2.a. Final parameters are then applied to entire project
with spot checks being performed on different terrain
types and adjusted if necessary.
5. The data was inspected for completeness
and quality.
6. The final data set was output to .xyz format and
prepared for delivery.
